Girls Ice Hockey to Play for Prep B Championship

The Morristown-Beard girls ice hockey team is seeking its third straight Prep B title when the Crimson skate against Immaculate Heart Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 14 at Twin Oaks Ice Rink.

The Crimson advanced to the Prep B Championship game on Friday night, February 8th after defeating Princeton Day School, 3-2, in a hard-fought contest at Twin Oaks.

Morristown-Beard School advanced to the championship game thanks to a stingy defense led by senior goalkeeper Samantha Hutchinson ’19, who stopped 20 of 22 shots.

Offensively, sophomore Faith Facchini ’21 led the way for MBS, scoring the first goal of the game and also providing a second goal midway through the second period to knot the game at 2-2.  The game-winner came just a few seconds later as freshman Leah Stecker ’22 scored a short-handed goal to put the Crimson up, 3-2.

The Crimson (9-9-1) have now won 4 of their last 5 games, and will face Immaculate Heart Academy (8-8-1), which blanked Kent Place, 3-0, to advance to the Prep B Final.

Go Crimson!
