Girls Ice Hockey Team Captures State Title with 7-0 Win

Congratulations to the Morristown Beard girls ice hockey team (17-3-1) for capturing the NJSIAA State Championship on Monday, March 7 with a convincing 7-0 win over Princeton Day School at The Prudential Center in Newark.

Senior Leah Stecker ’22, who will play ice hockey at Penn State next year, led the way offensively for the Crimson, scoring four goals. Classmate Logan Sutera ’22 added two goals for MBS while Junior Lilli Warnock ’23 notched the first goal of the game. The Crimson led 2-0 at the first intermission and were up 5-0 after two periods.

The Crimson defense was strong all game, and goalie Gracie Meyers ’23 stopped all 11 shots that she faced to secure the victory for MBS.

Although last year’s state championship game was canceled due to the pandemic, Morristown Beard School finished the season ranked #1 in the state with a perfect 6-0 record. A year earlier, MBS captured the inaugural Girls Ice Hockey State Championship with a 3-0 win over Summit at the Prudential Center in Newark.

Congratulations to Head Coach Bruce Drive and the entire girls ice hockey team!  Go Crimson!
