Congratulations to the MBS girls ice hockey team which captured the first-ever Librera Cup championship with a 3-2 win over Pingry on February 16 at Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange.
“This is the first-ever Librera Cup and nobody’s going to take that away — you’re going to be the first team named on that cup,” said Head Coach Bruce Driver about the historic win.
Junior Kailin Kane ’24 broke a 2-2 tie with 5:34 remaining in the third period to lift the Crimson to the title. The goal was her 17th on the season, behind only the 22 goals apiece from Jessie Sperling ’24 and Lilli Warnock ’23.
In the net, Gracie Meyers ’23 made 21 total saves – many of them acrobatic – to secure the victory for MBS.
The Crimson are now hoping to carry this motivation and momentum forward as they defend their state tournament title. Go Crimson!
