Congratulations to MBS girls ice hockey head coach Bruce Driver P’04, P’10, who picked up his 350th career victory this week as the Crimson defeated Hoosac (NY), 5-3, on Wednesday.
Coach Driver, who leads the state in wins among girls’ ice hockey coaches, is the fifth active coach – in either boys or girls ice hockey – to achieve 350 or more career wins. Under his guidance, the MBS girls ice hockey team has captured three consecutive state championships.
On Wednesday, MBS senior Jess Sperling ’24 led the way offensively for the Crimson (9-2) by notching a hat trick and leading the team to a 4-1 advantage by the end of the second period. Julie Jasaitis ‘25 and Keira Redmond ’24 also scored for the Crimson.
Driver, who played 15 seasons in the NHL as a defenseman and helped the New Jersey Devils win the 1995 Stanley Cup, was inducted into the Morristown Beard School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014. He began his coaching career at MBS in 2000, serving as co-coach of the girls’ ice hockey program alongside Dave Reiley. The program gained varsity status in the 2001-02 season.
