Girls Basketball to Play Tournament Games This Weekend

The MBS girls basketball team is off to an impressive 17-2 record so far this season, and they have a busy weekend of tournament games coming up. On Saturday, February 9th, the Crimson (#3 seed) will play West Morris (#6 seed) in the quarterfinal round of the Morris County Tournament at 12 noon at Morris Knolls.  On Sunday, they will host Newark Academy at 2 p.m. in the Prep Tournament.

After a preliminary round bye in the Morris County Tournament, the Crimson defeated Roxbury, 62-21, in the opening round. Sophomore Olivia Omelczuk led the way offensively with 17 points, followed by Bridget Monaghan (13 points) and Addisyn Ibrahim (10 points). Erin Martin grabbed 13 rebounds for MBS.

In the quarterfinals, the Crimson will now face West Morris (11-8), which advanced with wins over Villa Walsh and Dover.  Tickets for the Morris County Tournament games are $5 and will be available at the door.

In the Prep Tournament, MBS will take on Newark Academy (10-7), which posted a first round victory over Doane Academy.
