Field Hockey Team Captures Prep B Championship

The Morristown-Beard field hockey team captured the Prep B Championship at home on Monday, October 28th with a convincing 2-0 win over Princeton Day School.

The Crimson got a first half goal from Joele Russomanno ’21, who tucked a shot past the PDS goalkeeper from close range. Late in the second half, Russomanno put the game out of reach after weaving past the PDS goalkeeper and scoring into a wide open net. Annabel Plante ’21 and Logan Sutera ’22 each tallied an assist.

The MBS defense kept PDS in check throughout the game, and Crimson goalie Josie Ashton ’22 turned away two shots to secure the shutout.

Later in the week, the Crimson (14-3) posted another shutout, defeating St. John Vianney, 4-0, in the quarterfinal round of the North Jersey Non-Public Tournament. Ella Singer '21 and Joele Russomanno '21 recorded a goal and an assist apiece to lead the offense. Josie Ashton '22 notched the team's seventh shutout of the season.

The second-seeded Crimson will now host third-seeded Kent Place in the semifinal round of the State Tournament on Saturday, November 2nd at 3 p.m.
