Congratulations to MBS swimmers Collin Faraher ’23 and Isla Johnston ’25, who set School records at the Prep B State Championship meet at Lawrenceville this week. Collin broke School records in the 100-yard freestyle as well as the 100-yard breaststroke, while Isla set a new mark in the 500-yard freestyle.
Collin helped pace the MBS boys’ swim team to a third place finish in the Prep B Championship on Tuesday as he placed third overall in the 100-yard freestyle, setting an MBS record with a time of 47.85. He also placed third overall in the 100-yard breaststroke, breaking the School record by clocking in at 1:01.80.
Sophomore Will L’Estrange also had a very strong day for the Crimson, placing seventh overall in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.48.
At the girls’ meet on Wednesday, Isla finished fourth overall in the 500-yard freestyle, setting a new MBS record with a time of 5:18.92. She also placed seventh overall in the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.63), narrowly missing another School record by just six tenths of a second.
On Thursday, the MBS girls swim team defeated Holy Spirit, 88-56, in the first round of the State Tournament. They will swim against Montclair Kimberley Academy in the second round on Tuesday, February 14.
The MBS boys swim team will return to the pool on Monday, February 13 when they travel to Belmar to swim against St. Rose High School in the first round of the State Tournament.
