David Gold Records the Score for Holocaust Documentary

MBS Performing Arts Department Chair and violist David Gold recently recorded the score for the historical documentary They Survived Together, which will be shown as part of the SOMA Film Festival in Maplewood this Sunday, September 12.

They Survived Together is a stirring documentary that tells the story of the incredible escape and survival of the Neiger family from certain death by Nazis in the Krakow Ghetto - with four small children. The Neigers are one of the very few families to survive the Holocaust as an intact family.

Gold, who has played on numerous soundtracks including Across The Universe, became involved in the project several years ago when a friend who plays cello asked him to join the recording session. The soundtrack was written by Grammy Award winner Frank London of the Klezmatics.

The goal of the film is to educate future generations about the Holocaust and to share the family’s story of strength, courage, and determination. Filmmaker John Rokosny will be in attendance for an informative Q&A following the screening.

The event takes place from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 12 at The Woodland, 40 Woodland Road in Maplewood. For ticket information, visit: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/historical-documentary-tickets-166305031827?aff=erelpanelorg
