Cornine '15 Selected 6th Overall in Pro Hockey Draft

Congratulations to Morristown-Beard School graduate Kendall Cornine ’15, who was recently selected sixth overall by the Metropolitan Riveters of the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL). The senior captain has re-written the women’s ice hockey record books at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and will depart this spring as the Division I school’s all-time leading scorer.

“I’m extremely excited to have been selected by the Metropolitan Riveters to further my playing career in the NWHL,” said Cornine. “I’m very thankful for my past and current coaches and teammates for helping me get to this point. I’m grateful for the opportunity and look forward to the future.”

She led the RIT Tigers in scoring during her sophomore and junior seasons, and is also pacing the team offensively this year with 9 goals and 7 assists so far. At the start of the 2018-2019 season, she was named College Hockey America Player of the Week.

At Morristown-Beard School, Cornine amassed 199 points – second most in the history of the girls ice hockey program – and was named the state’s Girls Ice Hockey Player of the Year in her junior and senior seasons.

After graduating from RIT with a degree in Exercise Science, she looks forward to returning to New Jersey to play for the Metropolitan Riveters, who play their home games in the Barnabas Health Hockey House at the Prudential Center in Newark.
