Community Attends Diversity Conference

Community Attends Diversity Conference

On Saturday, November 10th, 11 members of the MBS community — including students, faculty/staff, parents and trustees — attended “Widening the Lens: The Far Brook School Diversity Conference. The focus of this year’s conference was “From Attending to Belonging: Re-Imagining Independent Schools for our Intersectional Communities.”

At the conference, participants considered the extent to which their independent school has adopted policies, programs, and curricula to create environments that feel like “home” for their constituents who represent various intersectional identities.  The participants shared their challenges and triumphs as the school communities worked together to build more inclusive communities.

Participants from Morristown-Beard School included: students Quiya Harris and Madeline Sit; faculty/staff members Jenna Sumner, Robert Mitchell, Brian Merry, Lauren Laskey, and Klarissa Karosen; parents Shanae Green and Heather Stein; and Board members David Gately and Gail Kurz.
