"Cabaret" Takes Center Stage at MBS

This year’s Upper School musical, Cabaret, is taking center stage in Founders Hall from Wednesday, March 4th through Saturday, March 7th.  

Set in 1931 Berlin as the Nazis are rising to power, Cabaret focuses on the nightlife at the free-spirited Kit Kat Klub. The plot revolves around the journey of a young American writer, Cliff Bradshaw, and his relationship with English cabaret performer Sally Bowles. Cliff witnesses the changing landscape of pre-war Berlin first-hand, as characters must decide whether life is simply a cabaret or on the verge of something terribly remarkable.

The show is being directed and choreographed by Jim Ruttman. The musical director is Ben Krauss with lighting design by Nicholas Marmo. Members of the crew include: Sanaah Aslam, Frankie Becchi, John Degnan, Matt Ellerthorpe, Rachael Kelson, Rachel Monastersky, Henry Miller, Haylee Schwind, Brianna Stewart, Ruben Taits, Tate Van Der Poel, Katie Yang, and Zach Zimberg.

The show will be staged at 7:30 p.m. on March 4th, 6th and 7th. There will be a 3:30 p.m. matinee performance on Thursday, March 5th. Tickets for MBS students, faculty and staff are free. All others are $5.00. Tickets are available in advance from the Performing Arts Department or at the door.
