Boys Ski Team Looking Forward to State Championships

The Morristown-Beard School ski team is enjoying another strong season on the slopes as they prepare for the slalom and giant slalom State Races at Mountain Cree Ski Resort at the end of the month.

The boys varsity team finished with an impressive 12-1 start for the first three giant slalom races. The team placed first twice and second once in the giant slalom, with three of four racers scoring in the top 10.

During last Wednesday’s slalom races, the team enjoyed their strongest showing of the season as all four varsity racers cracked the top 10 and the entire team was within the top 25. The JV squad also had a great day as the boys finished in the top 10.

This year’s varsity boys team is led by seniors Alex D’Alessandro, Jesper Trapness and Justin Recupero along with sophomore Branden Hawks and freshman Jackson Downey. Participation continues to climb for the boys team, as the program now includes a total of 21 racers.

On the girls’ side, MBS has had some great individual racing from junior Nikki D’Alessandro ’20, who has enjoyed 3rd and 4th place finishes this year, as well as senior Michelle Corcoran ’19, who routinely finishes among the top 20 percent after beginning ski racing as a freshman.  The girls team is looking to add more racers next season so that they can score team points as well as individual points.

The boys varsity team will be competing in the giant slalom State Race on Tuesday, February 26th and the slalom State Race on Thursday, February 28th.  Go Crimson!
