This past weekend, the MBS track & field team sent 11 athletes to the State Group Championships at Franklin High School and had some outstanding results. Congratulations to senior Nicole Borowiec ’19 and junior JayShon DuBose ’20, who both won state championships to qualify for the Meet of Champions.
Nicole Borowiec captured state championships in the 100-meter hurdles (15.16) as well as the 100-meters (12.74). She also placed fifth in the 200 and qualified for the Meet of Champions in the 400-meter hurdles, placing second. In all, she earned 30 total points in the meet!
JayShon DuBose won a state championship in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.73. He also finished second in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.02 and was sixth in the 200-meters and the 400-meters.
MBS also got strong results from Camille Ferrell ’22, who was 4th in the 100-meters (PR), Amanda Fradkin ’20, who was 4th in the long jump, Trevone Quarrie ’19, who placed 4th in the 200-meters (PR) 5th in the 100-meters (PR), and 10th in the 400-meters (PR), Matt Loprete ’22, who was 6th in the 110-meter hurdles (PR), Sarah Williams ’19, who was 7th in the 110-meter hurdles (PR), Curtis Fagan ’19, who was 8th in the discus (PR), Sam Wilshinsky ’21, who was 9th in shot put (PR), and Owen McCann ’20, who was 9th in the 3200-meters (PR) and 10th in the 1600-meters (PR).
The MBS girls track & field team finished 6th out of 25 teams while the boys team placed 8th overall. Congratulations to Head Coach Scott McCormick and all of the athletes who represented MBS so well. Go Crimson!
