Biology Students Conducting Long-Term Experiments in the Environmental Systems Lab

This week, students in Scott McCormick’s Biology classes began setting up some long-term experiments in the Environmental Systems Lab to study the effects of wind and lighting conditions on plant growth.

Mr. McCormick’s Period 5 class set up an experiment with variable-speed fans to examine the effect of wind/air on plant growth. His Period 8 and Period 1 classes are both exploring the effect of the different colors of light (red, green, blue) on plant growth.

Students in the Data Analysis & Research Methods cohort of the Interdisciplinary Concentrations Program (ICP) also recently began a long-term project to look at mold growth on building materials under different conditions.

The students will monitor these experiments and will record their observations in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!
