Baseball Team Tops Marist to Advance to State Quarterfinals

The 9th-seeded Morristown-Beard School baseball team earned convincing a 7-1 win over 8th-seeded Marist in the opening round of the North Jersey, Non-Public B Tournament on Tuesday, May 21st. With the win, MBS (12-11) will now play top-seeded St. Mary (17-9) on Friday, May 24th at 4 p.m. on the road.

At the plate, MBS was led by senior Trent Caudill ’19 and junior Deven Soto ’20, who both went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI, while freshman Matt Stokes ’22 scored a run and drove in another. Pitcher Jackson Kirsch ’19 allowed seven hits over six innings with one walk and six strikeouts to earn the victory while reliever Michael DeSantis ’21 allowed one hit over one inning with no walks and a strikeout.

Morristown-Beard followed the win over Marist with a 7-4 win over West Morris on Wednesday afternoon. Go Crimson!
