Art Students Recreating Works by Women Artists

To prepare for Women’s History Month, art students in Zach Mazouat’s Foundations Digital class have been busy recreating works by women artists on recycled COVID plexiglass. The completed paintings will be displayed in the windows of Anderson Library next month.

The students began the project by researching artists with some help from Director of Anderson Library Erinn Salge. Some of the artists whose works are being represented include: Mary Cassatt, Frida Kahlo, Judy Chicago, Hilma af Klint, and Tamara de Lempicka.

In all, the students will paint 15 panels using acrylic paint. They will also provide contextual information about the artist and the style of the art that the piece represents.
