A Lively MBS Jazz & Percussion Concert in Founders Hall

The audience was treated to a lively performance in Founders Hall on Thursday night, May 4 as the Upper School Jazz and Percussion Ensembles performed their spring concert.

The Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. John Girvin, played a range of songs from jazz standards by Chuck Mangione, Duke Ellington, and Chick Corea to contemporary pop songs like Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite.” On George Gershwin’s “Summertime” and Erroll Garner's "Misty," the group was joined by talented senior vocalist Maya Bhide ’23.

The Percussion Ensemble’s selections included Frank Loesser’s “If I Were a Bell” from Guys and Dolls and Miles Davis’ swinging tune “Pfrancing.”

The concert featured 30 student performers including: Nicholas Anderson ’26, Spencer Anderson ’24, Maya Bhide ’23, Zachary Brown ’24, Isabelle Celleri ’24, Jacob Conti ’25, Peter Cross ’24, Evan Dixter ’26, Angus Downey ’26, Abigail Ewing ’24, Collin Faraher ’23, Ayo Fayemi ’23, Gavin Frey ’23, Jake Goldstein ’23, Adin Kasmin ’24, Abigail Korb ’23, Evie Lisk ’25, Julian Melendez ’23, Sebastian Miscia ’26, Max Nussbaum ’23, Maya Patankar ’25, Kayla Ruggiero ’24, Jack Song ’26, Jack Thompson ’26, Kevin Tone ’24, Nicholas Troiano ’25, Logan Turner ’26, Arden Upadya ’25, Buddy Valastro ’23, Liam Westwood ’23, and Christopher Yermack ’24.
