The audience was treated to a lively performance in Founders Hall on Thursday night, April 28 as the Middle School Band and the Upper School Jazz and Percussion Ensembles performed their spring concert.
The Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. John Girvin, played a trio of popular TV and movie theme songs, including “The Avengers,” “Stranger Things,” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.” They were followed by the Middle School Band, which performed two well-known songs, “Louie Louie” by the Kingsmen and George Benson’s “On Broadway.”
The Percussion Ensemble’s selections included Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely,” Chicago’s “25 or 6 to 4” and the swinging “Fly Me to the Moon” featuring senior Zach Taylor ’22 on vocals.
The concert concluded with the MBS Jazz Ensemble being joined by the Middle School Band for a blues jam.
The concert featured more than 40 student performers including: Nicholas Anderson, Spencer Anderson, Zachary Aycock, Jack Becker, Hayat Bembry, Jacob Breslow, Zachary Brown, Isabella Celleri, Jacob Conti, Julia Crosby, Peter Cross, Evan Dixter, Abigail Ewing, Collin Faraher, Ayo Fayemi, Gavin Frey, Jake Goldstein, Alexander Grayzel, Liam Hong, Aiden Kasmin, Miranda Lee, Evie Lisk, Julian Melendez, Gracie Meyers, Jordan Moody, Max Nussbaum, Maya Patankar, Kayla Ruggiero, Griffith Sanborn, Dylan Temple, Kevin Tone, Nicholas Troiano, Nicholas Tucker, Logan Turner, Arden Upadaya, Buddy Valastro, Liam Westwood, and Christopher Yermack.
