Cartagena, Day 1

Cartagena, Day 1

By Sabrina Fagan, Julia Abbott, Sonny Hughes

After a very early morning flight, landed in Cartagena around noon local time. We were greeted by our tour guide for the trip and got on a bus to head to the hotel. At the hotel we waited to get checked into our rooms and were pleasantly surprised by their luxury. We then headed out on a walking tour of the city. Our first stop was a local empanada stand that we found in a small town plaza. It was beautiful walking through the streets with all of the colorful buildings and the pushy vendors. Next, we went to a local park where we saw monkeys and sloths just hanging in the trees. We ended the night at a Colombian restaurant where some of us tried the fresh ceviche and paella. On the way back to the hotel, we stopped to watch a group of dancers in the street. After an early morning and a long day of walking, we were all exhausted so we happily headed to bed upon returning to the hotel.
