Anderson Library

Serving both the Upper and Middle School, the Anderson Library is located next to Beard Hall and the colonnade. It houses more than ten thousand books, audiobooks, more than four hundred DVDs, twenty newspapers & magazines subscriptions, more than eighteen thousand e-books and more than forty academic databases. The networked computers provide both Internet and intranet access with links to numerous electronic information sources in databases and the library catalog. We also offer Libguides that help students use different resources such as e-books, databases, copyright and more. Two full-time librarians staff the library, which provides full services from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and is open as a study center supervised by a faculty/staff member from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

We strive to provide a comfortable, scholarly atmosphere conducive to individual study, while also offering support and assistance for individual and group research. The library staff is committed to providing students and faculty with an extensive information center for study, research, and relaxation.

Research Across the Curriculum

Morristown-Beard School’s Anderson Library Research Skills Curriculum addresses the research and information needs of a 21st century learner. The library promotes and offers an integrated research program embedded in all content areas. The head librarian works closely with faculty to create and develop engaging and informative research based process within the student’s curricular subjects. Due to the ever-present abundance of information students encounter, it is vital that our students learn the skills necessary to navigate this rich, but overwhelming world. Research skills and information literacy are an essential proficiency in the information age and the Library serves as a guide to assist students and faculty in the flood and multiplies of information.

Information Literacy

Information Literacy is multiple literacies (digital, visual, textual, technological), expanding students’ knowledge & understanding of context. Research based projects and assessments in all content areas aid students in questioning, finding, evaluating, selecting accurate, valid, appropriate information, based on need, importance, context, and diverse sources, with technology.
