Crimson topple Villa Walsh to move to 9-0 record
The MBS girls varsity basketball team is off to an impressive start this winter, improving to a perfect 9-0 record following Wednesday night’s 63-36 win over Villa Walsh at home.
During winter break, the Crimson defeated Dayton, 43-39, to capture the Joe Pepe Tournament title. Senior Bridget Monaghan ’19 scored a game-high 18 points and earned MVP honors.
Head Coach Mike Sturgeon’s squad also posted a convincing 59-25 road win over previously unbeaten Hanover Park behind a balanced offensive effort from Monaghan (14 points), Olivia Omelczuk (13 points), and Addisyn Ibrahim (12 points).
MBS is led offensively by Bridget Monaghan, who is averaging 18.6 points per game, as well as Olivia Omelczuk, who is averaging 12 points per game. Erin Martin leads the team with 8.1 rebounds per game, followed by Addisyn Ibrahim with 5.6.
The Crimson will face High Point at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at home. Go Crimson!
