Derek was voted player of the week for USILA during the beginning of his junior year season, and he reached over 100 goals throughout his college career.

He graduated with a bachelor's degree in exercise science with a minor in business. Derek is continuing his lacrosse career, as he recently just tried out for the Mexico National Lacrosse Team, where he hopes for the opportunity to play in the world games of lacrosse, which will be held in Medellin, Columbia during the summer of 2022.
