Michael Sturgeon has over 20 years of coaching experience at Morristown Beard School. He has served as the head coach of the varsity girls’ basketball program from 2001 to 2010 and again from 2011 to 2023. During that time, the team has seen steady improvement, and currently ranks in the Top 5 in Morris County. The team claimed NJAC conference titles in 2014 and 2018, and won the NJSIAA Prep Tournament in 2015. In 2009, he was named the Colonial Hills Coach of the Year, and in 2014 he was named Mugs Media Coach of the year, Sideline Chatter Coach of the Year, and Daily Record Basketball Coach of the Year as well as Coach of the Season. During his tenure as girls’ basketball coach, he has amassed over 200 wins.

In addition to basketball, he has served as the baseball pitching coach, has had five separate stints as volleyball coach from 2004-2006, 2008, 2013, and again in 2021, and has been the JV Girls' Golf coach. Mike is the Director of Middle School Athletics and Assistant Athletic Director / Equipment, Uniforms, and inventory for Upper School Athletics.
