Aline M. de la Torre is an Upper School Spanish Teacher as well as the Director of Global Studies. She joined the MBS Faculty in 2006.

Aline has a B.A. in English from St. Peter’s University. Upon graduation, she worked as a correspondent banking officer on Wall Street where she was responsible for developing relationships with banks in Brazil, Chile, Spain, and Portugal. She did extensive travel within these countries. Aline next worked for a Fortune 500 company, selling financial solutions to international institutions.

After she began a family, Aline pursued a teaching career in which she began teaching Spanish in local private schools. Having grown up in a Spanish household, Aline enjoyed her transition to teaching about language and culture. Since her childhood, she had always possessed a passion for travel and an appreciation for other cultures. Accordingly, Aline felt strongly about teaching students to become globally minded individuals.

During her time at MBS, Aline has taught all levels of Spanish, both in the Middle School and the Upper School. In 2013, she was appointed as the first Global Studies Coordinator, responsible for coordinating school-sponsored travel programs, study abroad programs, and exchange programs. In this role, Aline developed the Panorama Committee to promote collaborative opportunities to develop the global competence of MBS students. In addition, she has served as the faculty advisor for the Upper School Ski Club and the Soup Kitchen, and she is currently the faculty advisor for the Equestrian International Club. Aline also is a member of the GEBG organization and several foreign language groups.

What Aline loves most about MBS is the sense of community. She also appreciates the encouragement that she receives to try new things and to be innovative. Her role at MBS affords her the opportunity to have a positive impact on young people and make a difference every day, and Aline seeks to inspire her students and learn from them as much as they learn from her.

In her free time, Aline enjoys spending time with her three children, Alissa, Matthew, Joey, and her husband, Tim. She also enjoys cooking, traveling, and home decorating.
