Barbara Napholtz joined the MBS Math Department in 1980, and taught Upper School Math through June 1987. After returning to MBS as a member of the Technology Department in 2002, she now creates custom web database solutions for the School and teaches the iOS Programming courses.
Barbara holds a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Rochester and an M.A. in Mathematics from Fordham University. In 1985, she was honored by The University of Chicago as an Outstanding Educator, having been nominated by a former MBS student. Two years later, Barbara was named a Distinguished Teacher by The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars.
When asked about MBS, Barbara always cites the School’s warm, supportive environment as well as the mutually respectful relationships enjoyed by faculty, staff, and students.
Outside of MBS, Barbara’s primary passion is music. A lifelong amateur pianist, she is currently fulfilling a personal dream as a student in the Evening Division of The Juilliard School. Her other interests include reading, swimming, and helping others.
