Eddie Franz joined Morristown-Beard School in September 1983 to teach history and coach the boys’ varsity tennis team. Prior to MBS, Eddie taught and coached basketball and tennis for two years at Piscataway High School and three years at Whippany Park.
Eddie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Rutgers University as well as a Master’s degree in Liberal Studies from Kean College. While teaching at Morristown-Beard, he returned to Kean to earn his Master's degree in Counseling Psychology, and soon thereafter, started the School's Student Assistance Counseling program (now called Wellness) in 1991. Eddie has served MBS in that area in addition to a number of other responsibilities throughout the years.
Presently, Eddie teaches two junior level humanities classes and a Constitutional Law Honors class. He is also responsible for managing the school's Wellness program (guidance, health and physical education), the Crisis Management Plan, the Advisor system, and Senior Projects. Eddie served as the School's head boys’ basketball coach from 1987-1990, resumed that post in 1995, and continues to serve MBS in that role.
Eddie was inducted into the Morristown-Beard School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008, and then into the New Jersey State Coaches Hall of Fame in 2013.
