Cynthia Bennett

Cynthia earned her B.S. in Applied Kinesiology from Rutgers University and began her professional career in the medical field. Although she enjoyed her work, she had always been drawn to education. One day, she decided to spend her day off substituting at a local school — an experience that changed everything. Cynthia loved the energy of the classroom, connecting with students, and seeing their curiosity come alive. After hearing about Teach for America from a teacher there, she applied and was accepted in 2022. She taught in Newark for the past three years, prior to coming to MBS.
Cynthia loves teaching middle school science because it allows her to inspire students’ natural curiosity and help them understand how science connects to the world around them. She finds it deeply rewarding to watch her students explore, question, and discover through hands-on learning.
Outside of school, Cynthia enjoys cooking, spending time outdoors, and traveling to new places.
