Zach holds a BA in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College, an MA in English from Hunter College, and a PhD in English from the University of Pennsylvania. His fascination with aesthetics and nature inspired his dissertation on landscape gardens in the English novel. He has also written on realism, land enclosure, and the legal history of private property. 

In recent years, Zach has taught at both Baruch and Hunter Colleges in New York City, as well as the Bard Prison Initiative. He brings an excitement for literary theory and cultural studies to MBS. 

Outside of the classroom, Zach likes cooking complicated meals, searching for new music, and finding new places to take walks.
