Brendan Flanagan

B.A., Ramapo College
Brendan joins the MBS English Department with a decade of experience in NJ independent schools. In addition to teaching English classes, he advises the Poetry Out Loud club and helps coach the MBS Mock Trial team.
Brendan comes to MBS after several years at Gill St. Bernard’s and Lacordaire Academy, where he was also Director of Technology. In addition to high school teaching, Brendan is a member of the adjunct faculty at the Ramapo College of New Jersey in Mahwah.
A lifelong New Jersey native, Brendan was born in Monmouth County and attended Ramapo College of New Jersey, where he earned a B.A. in International Studies, Literature, and Creative Writing. He went on to pursue an M.A. in English and Irish Literature and Culture at Boston College. His scholarly work focused on the social role of hauntings in contemporary Irish literature.
Outside MBS, Brendan is an active runner and hiker. He lives with his wife and two young children, and enjoys traveling with his family at every opportunity. Prior to the arrival of his children, Brendan and his wife were avid roadtrippers, and they look forward to hitting the highways once their kids are old enough to enjoy it.
