Katie holds a BA in Classical Studies and German Studies from Bates College and an MAT in Latin and Classical Humanities from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Prior to joining MBS, Katie worked for two years as a Latin instructor and Teaching Assistant at UMass Amherst and a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Bavaria, Germany.

In the classroom, Katie creates a positive, supportive environment. She loves getting to know her students and introducing them to ancient Roman culture -- especially the parts that might seem strange or wacky to modern people. Passionate about all languages, Katie enjoys observing students make connections between Latin and other languages they might speak or study.

Katie has a favorite Latin pun: “Malo malo malo malo” (I’d rather be in an apple tree than a bad man in adversity).
