B.A., Harvard University
Andrew Holbrook joined the MBS English department in 2017 after teaching for two years in China and a decade in California.
Having studied history at Harvard University – yet having taught English for most of his career – Andrew was especially drawn to Morristown-Beard School’s Humanities program, which afforded him the chance to help students make connections across disciplines. His class on Civil War literature takes this approach even further, as students learn to analyze photographs, songs, speeches, and maps as primary sources.
Andrew also teaches electives in journalism and debate. These courses introduce students to new types of reading and writing outside the bounds of a traditional literature class, and reflect his strong desire to give students a variety of avenues for pursuing their interests and discovering new ones.
Recently, Andrew began helping to develop an Odyssey of the Mind team in conjunction with the new Center for Innovation and Design. A native of Wisconsin, he can usually be seen walking to school in his Green Bay Packers knit hat!
