Courtney Barnes is currently an Upper School mathematics teacher at Morristown-Beard School, having started in 2016. She previously worked as an Adjunct Professor of Calculus at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark.
Courtney earned a Master’s degree in Math Education at New York University following her graduation from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Arts, having double majored in Mathematics and Studio Art. She has written a curriculum for a Math and Art semester course at MBS, allowing her two passions to be intertwined and subsequently shared with students who will greatly benefit from such interdisciplinary connections.
Outside of her career as a math teacher, Courtney is a licensed Zumba instructor, an advocate for the Mental Health Awareness club at MBS, and the advisor for Crimson Design and Girls Who Code. She is entirely committed to her students, doing whatever is necessary for them to understand and appreciate the beauty and intricacies of mathematics and how the subject is a universal language that can be the stepping-stone to great knowledge.
