Athletic Workshop April 10th
Positive Coaching Alliance for Parents
All MBS parents are invited to a special Crimson Club meeting and Positive Coaching Alliance Workshop on Tuesday, April 10th at 7:30 p.m. in Wilkie Hall.
The workshop, "Developing Winners in LIfe Through Sports," will be led by Alan Strachan, the Director of Central Park Ice Hockey in the north end of Central Park, NYC.
Mr. Strachan initiated the program 10 years ago and continues its development. He was the Commissioner and co-founder of the Metropolitan Youth Hockey League and during the height of in-line hockey held the title of NYS Coach-in-Chief with USA Hockey. His USA duties had him coaching at the National Junior Festival in Colorado Springs, assisting with player development camps and conducting coaching workshops in the NY area. Alan has taught swimming, coached football and lacrosse and has been a sports camp counselor and tournament Director.
Currently, Mr. Strachan is coaching a u10 and u12 girls travel hockey teams, a boys Mite travel team and NYC's Birch Wathen Lenox High and Middle School hockey teams. He also is the head coach for the Saint Bernard’s Schools developmental program and is the current Vice President of the GAL (Girls American League) which provides competition for all girls teams in the tri state area.
The Positive Coaching Alliance is a national non-profit organization that seeks to replace the “win-at-all costs” philosophy in youth sports with a more positive and effective team culture. Its mission is to “transform youth sports so sports can transform youth.”
