Mead Named Player of Year
Star-Ledger honors Laura Mead '12
Congratulations to Morristown-Beard senior ice hockey player Laura Mead '12, who was named the Star-Ledger's girls ice hockey Player of the Year for 2011-2012.

In her full first season at Morristown-Beard this year, Mead amassed a team-leading 30 goals and 46 points with a plus-minus of 56. She helped lead the Crimson to an amazing 18-1 record and a fourth WIHLMA Championship in the past five seasons. The team notched 45 wins in a row before finally losing to Lawrenceville in the final game of the season.

Mead, who was named the team's co-MVP with Katherine Chester '13, was the only player on the team to record a point in every game she played.

"I'm flattered to be recognized," said Mead, who will continue her hockey career at Wesleyan next year. "A lot of my inspiration comes from (head coach) Bruce Driver. I owe a lot to the girls on the team and the entire program at Morristown-Beard."
