Students Set for TV Quiz Show
Second-round match set for Feb. 29
After an exciting victory over Lakeland Regional High School in November, the Morristown-Beard Quiz Bowl Team is ready to swing into action once again.

MBS students Dan Collins ’14, Ben Miller ’12, Kyle Movsovich ’13, Harry Okun ’12, and Sumi Sapru ’13 are masters of knowledge and trivia, and they will return to the television studio in Manhattan on Wednesday, February 29th for a second-round taping of “The Challenge.”

As team advisors Mark Hartman and Kyle Brescher ’03 explained, each student brings unique talents and strengths to the team. “Sumi Sapru is captain of the team and helps keep the members of the team in check. He has to deal with three other personalities – strong personalities. He’s a good leader.”

Sumi specializes in science and current events, including entertainment and movies. His teammate, Dan Collins “is amazing at mental math” according to Mr. Hartman. Dan, who was on the team last year, is also strong in science and current events.

Another returning player, Harry Okun, is a National Merit Scholarship finalist and feels most comfortable with literature, mythology, history, science and math questions.

Kyle Movsovich considers himself an expert on “other sciences, Asia and useless trivia; it really came in handy!” Senior Ben Miller served as the team’s alternate player and has been invaluable in helping the team prepare for the competition.

"The Challenge," an award-winning academic quiz show hosted by Jared Cotter, spotlights the best and brightest high school students in the tri-state area. Teams from 192 schools will be represented in the regional competition.
