Each fall seniors research and develop a proposal for a senior project, combining academic and experiential elements. The project is scheduled for the final three weeks of the senior's high school career at
Morristown-Beard School. Students are encouraged to develop a project that will allow them to learn and to think critically about themselves, the environment, the arts, their community, or a possible career.
Elements of the Senior Project are:
- Developing a proposal and having it approved;
- Spending three weeks on site during spring semester;
- Creating a newly-designed comprehensive written Field Journal to document and reflect critically on the project;
- Deliver a formal, oral report to the project committee.
As part of their own Senior Project requirement, all juniors observe at least one senior presentation. Currently, the Senior Project counts as a Quarter Course and is graded on a Pass/Fail basis.
