Students walk through Morristown-Beard Schools 22 acre campus to classes

A Morristown-Beard education serves to inform the college preparation process from the moment a student enrolls.

Our rigorous academic program, coupled with a vast assortment of extracurricular offerings, give students the opportunity to explore and develop their unique interests and talents, both in and outside of the classroom. The experiences they have in the classroom, on the playing field, and through participation in activities, performances, exhibits, and community service all help to define their future goals and aspirations, and it is this process of self-discovery that helps to frame their college search, ultimately allowing them to find the best “fit.”

With over 3,000 colleges and universities in the United States alone, there are obviously many at which each student can find happiness and success. As such, the College Counseling Office works very closely with every MBS student, first in helping to establish a list of prospective colleges to meet their individual needs. As they progress through the process, we provide support and guidance in regard to all aspects such as researching institutions, conducting campus visits and interviews, taking standardized tests and completing applications. In addition, we make ourselves accessible to parents through individual meetings and as questions and concerns arise throughout the cycle. We recognize that the college process, while an exciting one, can also be the source of some anxiety, and we want to do everything we can to make it enjoyable and stress-free.

In addition to the individual work we do with each family, the College Counseling Office hosts several programs throughout the year, including our annual College Admission Case Studies Workshop for underclassmen and their parents in November, as well as a Freshman/Sophomore Parent Workshop in the spring. Families are also welcome to make use of our library of college brochures and reference materials, as well as Naviance Family Connection, an online program accessible through this website.

100% of Morristown-Beard graduates typically attend a four-year college or university with the majority matriculating at those labeled “Most Selective” or “Highly Selective.” Our greatest successes come, however, from helping students to recognize the wonderful array of institutions available to them, and then narrowing down to those considered to be the best fit. When they come back to visit and are happy at their college – academically stimulated and challenged, active in campus life, and having made good friends, we feel that the process has been a success.
